“The restaurant family members buy all of the food for the Thanksgiving-type feast. It’s homecooked, and they do all of it for at least 300 people,” says Adele Greenburg with Habitat for Humanity Mercer. “Many local businesses, factors, citizens and former citizens of Mercer County donate items for the silent and live auction each year. And the Christian Life Center is right off of U.S. 127, where the event is held each year.”

Greenburg says the Patriot Quartet and Family Affair Restaurant donate everything for the evening event, and have done so for about 25 years.

Tickets for Monday’s event can be purchased in advance for $12 by calling (859) 734-5086. If bought at the door, tickets are $15.

“Everyone in Mercer County has grown to know to expect this event on the last Monday in August,” Greenburg says.

SO YOU KNOW

The Patriot Quartet is a group of dedicated and “called” men of God who truly love to sing the Gospel wherever they can. After beginning as a church trio in 1996, the group evolved and on Jan, 1, 2000 became a quartet. The members of this group have a common goal of sharing God’s wonderful gift of music, wherever and whenever possible and present it in the traditional, Southern Gospel four-part harmony style.
