A mother and five children were sent to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, and three of the six were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, on Tuesday morning after a roll over wreck that ejected them on KY 78, outside of Stanford.
Whitney Berry, 26, has been identified by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department as the driver of the minivan. She and one child are on life support.
Tuesday morning, Don Gilliam, director of the Lincoln County Emergency Management, said two of the children were critical, and deputies on the scene told him the mother was “hurt bad.”
“Trauma can take a lot of forms,” Gilliam said.
The youngest of the children was about one-year-old, he said.
Speed appears to be a factor, as well as wet roads.
“That’s always a bad combination,” he said.
