A Lancaster woman was killed and two people were injured in a head-on collision on Perryville Road near Boyle County High School Wednesday night.
Linda K. Gill, 63, of Lancaster was killed about 6:47 p.m. Wednesday, when a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Joseph Kelly, 42, of Lexington collided with Gill’s Ford F150. According to police, Kelly was traveling westbound on Perryville Road and allegedly crossed the center line, striking Gill’s truck.
“It looks like she was killed instantly,” Boyle County Coroner Dr. Don Hamner said Thursday morning.
The police report said Kelly was treated at the scene by emergency crews and transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
“Alcohol and narcotics are suspected to be factors in the collision. Criminal charges on pending on Kelly as a result,” according to the news release.
As of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Danville Police Chief Tony Gray said Kelly was still being treated and no arrest had yet been made.
Gill’s passenger, Alma K. Steinhauer 46, of California, Kentucky was able to get out of the vehicle on her own, according to Hamner, and was treated for minor injures.
Danville police are requesting any witnesses of the collision call (859) 238-1220 and speak to the on-duty supervisor. Officers Jacob Ruhe, Aaron Sparks and Det. Kevin Peel are the investigating officers.
