Dear Editor,

My husband and I attended one of four glassblowing demonstrations open to the public at the Jones Visual Arts Center on Centre College’s campus. These demonstrations featured master glass artist, Lino Tagliapietra, assisted by Centre’s own internationally respected glassblower, Steven Powell, and his competent team of assistants. The strength, skill, timing and teamwork required in the creation of each piece was impressive and fascinating to watch. Feeling the heat of the furnaces on our faces while sitting just feet away from the workers added to this unique experience.

Thank you, Steven Powell and Centre College, for bringing Maestro Tagliapietra to Danville and for sharing him with your students and the public. This was a rare and exciting glimpse into this beautiful art form.
