Lynn Harmon, wife of Kentucky State Auditor Mike Harmon, has filed to run for Boyle County judge-executive in the 2018 election.
Harmon, a Republican, 839 W. Shelby Street, Junction City, filed as a candidate Monday. She is the first person to officially file for the judge-executive race.
“I’ve ran twice and came close. I would love to serve the people of Boyle County,” Harmon said.
Current Boyle County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney, a Democrat, was first appointed to the position in April 2008, replacing Tony Wilder, who had accepted a position in state government. McKinney was then elected to the position in a special election in November 2008. He confirmed on Monday that he does not intend to run for reelection.
Harmon ran against McKinney in 2010 and in 2014, defeating primary challenger Bernie Hunstad but losing the general elections to McKinney.
Other recent filings include:
• Boyle County coroner: Don Hamner, Republican, incumbent, 212 Maple Avenue, Danville;
• Circuit Court Clerk: Cortney Shewmaker, Democrat, incumbent, 1850 Quarry Road, Danville; and
• Property Valuation Administrator: Eddie Tamme, Democrat, 305 Little Needmore, Danville.
