One person has died and a residence was completely destroyed in an early morning fire at a home on Old Hustonville Road in Boyle County.
Boyle County Coroner Don Hamner identified the woman killed as Gerri Compton, 64. She was found inside a bedroom in her home.
Hamner said Compton’s body was taken to Frankfort. Autopsy results have not been completed, but no foul play is suspected, he said.
According to Boyle County Fire Chief Donnie Sexton, firefighters received a call at 12:45 a.m. Monday stating flames were showing from the residence.
Firefighters found one body inside the house.

Sexton said the fire was in the basement, first floor and attic. It took 26 firefighters from the Boyle County Fire Department to put out the flames. Sexton said the fire was extinguished by 1:10 a.m. and no other departments were called on to assist. Since there are no fire hydrants in that area, Sexton said the fire department brought its own water.
Investigations are being conducted by the Kentucky State Police, Boyle County Arson Unit and the coroner, Sexton said.
