Look should not be removed as superintendent

Dear Editor,
A huge shout out to Anne Windburn, Ruth Ann Phillips and Elaine Wilson-Reddy for their excellent letters. These letters put into words how the majority of the people feel about our current school board.
There are clearly far more people for Dr. Look and only a few against. This whole issue of not renewing Dr. Look’s contract has really showed us who really is to blame and who has NOT been a part of the team, and it is the three members who voted him out. I agree, we need professional educators on this board and not volunteers.
With that being said, I don’t put Troy McCowan and Steve Becker in the volunteer category. They have more than proven themselves by putting many years of experience on the board. They are the only two that I ever see in our school, they invest in our students and staff. I NEVER see the other three in my school.
I have been to numerous board meetings and saw how these three members did not acknowledge Dr. Look whenever he spoke. Steve and Troy did acknowledge him. Part of the reason I would pay close attention was that I had heard the many rumors of how our current chairman and the chairman before her wanted to vote Dr. Look out. They are no longer rumors because they did just that.
The past chairman paced the hallway at DHS the night the vote took place, and he looked very anxious. In fact, I heard from one of their friends that it was a “lost cause” for people to show up and try to express and convince the board to let Dr. Look stay. This shows that it was planned for a long time.
