The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society’s featured pets for this week are Skittles and Grace.

Skittles

Skittles is a darling 1-year-old orange tabby that was brought to the humane society as a stray. She has a very sweet and loving personality. Although a young adult, Skittles has a quiet, undemanding personality. She would make a wonderful indoor companion since a soft couch or her owner’s lap would most likely be her favorite spot. Come and meet this precious girl if you are searching for the perfect feline friend!

Grace is a sweet 6-year-old terrier mix that was found running loose and brought to the humane society so she would be safe. Her owner has not been found so Grace is looking for a fresh start with a new family. Grace weighs about 35 pounds and is mostly white with some black markings, including a cute spot on the top of her head. Grace loves to play and is very good with children. She needs to be in a home with no cats and would probably do best as the only dog. If Grace sounds like a good match for your family, please come for a visit and meet this precious girl in person!

Kitten season has officially begun. This is the time when humane societies, shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with the influx of baby kittens and mother cats. You can help by donating kitten care supplies such as dry kitten food, canned kitten food, fleece blankets, heating pads and bottles for feeding kittens. Another much needed item is clumping cat litter. Foster homes are also needed for momma cats with kittens and orphan kittens. To learn more about becoming a foster parent and how to apply you can call the DBCHS at (859) 238-1117 or email us at dbchs@bellsouth.net. If you are ready to add a feline companion to your home now is a great time to adopt. You will not only save the kitty that you adopt, but you also open the space for another cat or kitten to be helped!

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
