Dear Editor,

I am writing to commend the efforts of many who partnered with us in honoring National Clear the Shelters Day, Aug. 18, 2018.

Our Boyle County Animal Control was diligent in caring for a full shelter and adequately preparing companion pets for adoption through scheduling and transport for spay/neuter surgeries and providing age appropriate vaccinations. This was carried out while continuing their busy job of serving our community in its animal control needs.

Our sponsors, Coldwell Banker V.I.P. Realty, Horse Country Crossfit, Barb Beaney, Special Care for Special Pets and Majors Flooring, made it possible to discount adoption fees and market the event where we successfully found homes for 23 companion pets in one day.

Petsmart at Brannon Crossing and Petsense in Danville provided additional adoption outlets and we have numerous dedicated volunteers who continue to amaze us with their passionate service.

Small events like these are a testament to the power of community engagement and continued strength in our partnership with Boyle County Animal Control.
