Danville knew it’d get a test at 3A state finalist Corbin on Saturday night.
The Admirals and Redhounds combined for the game of the week and it was the hosts who would come away with a 28-10 victory.
Corbin would strike first on a two-yard touchdown run from Noah Taylor, but the Admirals responded.
Brennen McGuire took a double reverse to the house from 51 yards away to tie the game at 7-7 after one quarter.
But Corbin responded, scoring two plays into the second quarter to take a 14-7 lead. That would be the halftime score after a combined five turnovers from each team in the first half.
Nathan Hazlett would hit a 27-yard field goal to bring Danville within four and was hit after the play. No flag was thrown and Hazlett did not return to the game.
Corbin’s Chase Estep would score on a 54 yard touchdown later in the frame, putting the hosts ahead 21-10 after three quarters.
The Redhounds put the game away late in the fourth quarter with another touchdown throw by Estep.
