Petitions can stop unwanted taxes

Dear Editor,
Several years ago, the Boyle County Schools were talking about raising real estate taxes with the nickel tax.
Bill Galbreath, Wayne Greer and I went to the Junction City residents and the Mitchellsburg folks and found close to 1,000 people with petitions they filled out and signed in opposition to the nickel tax.
There was a meeting called by the Boyle County Schools to meet at the school library concerning the nickel tax. The nickel tax was dissolved and thrown out during that time.
So, yes Mr. Tom Ellis, petitions signed and filled out by poor people like me and others goes a long way in stopping unwanted taxes.
