Correction

In the article “Boyle school board takes compensating tax rate” that appeared in yesterday’s paper, the board’s vote was reported incorrectly. The board voted 4-1 to approve the compensating tax rate. Board members Laura Guerrant, Julie Jones, Jennifer Newby and Steve Tamme voted in favor; board member Ruth Ann Elliott voted against.

Boyle County Fire Department Special Called Meeting — 6 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 4, at Headquarters to clarify construction at Station #6.

Danville, Boyle County and KSD Retired Teachers Association — 10 a.m. Monday Sept. 10, at at the Boyle County Cooperative  Extension office, 99 Corporate Drive (off Lebanon Road). Speaker is Gary Harbin, CPA, Executive Secretary of Kentucky Teacher Retirement System (TRS).  Mr. Harbin will talk about how our money is invested, return on our investments, and the future of our retirement accounts. Local dues are $10, collected at the meeting. State dues are $20, mailed to KRTA, 7505 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40291 Lunch is on your own, afterwards, at a local restaurant of your choice.

The Garden Club of Danville — 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 5, at the Boyle County Extension Service, 99 Corporate Drive. The program will be “Plants for Pollinating —  It is important to provide nectar and pollinating plants for all pollinators throughout the growing season.” The speaker will be Shannon Trimboli. She is a beekeeper, Kentucky farmer, scientist, educator, artist, and author. Her most recent book Plants Honey Bees Use explains the importance of providing pollinator forage until frost.
