Community invited to fall festival

The Danville Centre for Health & Rehabilitation Fall Festival will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at the center, 642 N. Third St. in Danville. The event will feature a bake sale, dunking booth, chili cook-off, live auction and live music by “Fired Up.” Admission is free.

Meetings

Boyle and Mercer County Joint Jail Committee — 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 at the Boyle County Fiscal Courtroom. Items on the agenda include: Shepherd’s House update; Brandstetter Carroll update; jailer’s report and tracking system.

Community Needs Assessment public meeting – 8:30 a.m., Sept. 19 at Boyle County Extension Office, 99 Corporate Drive. There will be a public meeting held to discuss the needs of the Community and Low income citizens in Boyle County. Danville Architectural Heritage Board — 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at city commission conference room. Items on the agenda include: certificate of appropriateness for an interpretive sign at 103 South Second St.; staff COA  to install handicap accessible ramp at 228 South Second St. location; install new sign at 118 Main St.; replace windows at 304 West Main St.; and replace sign at 117 West Main St.

Clarification

In Wednesday’s story “EDP gives update to fiscal court,” the Economic Development Partnership’s chair, Ben Nelson said, “I still am a fairly outspoken proponent that we have done a great service in this community of vilifying economic development.” It was incorrectly printed that he said the “EDP” had vilified development. Nelson said what he was trying to say was that the EDP is using its strategic plan well, but the community has yet to get behind it as much as the EDP had hoped because of an “ongoing undermining of the partnership’s credibility.”

Also, the three Boyle County appointed members to the EDP are David Williams, David Maynard and Harold McKinney.
