DANVILLE — The Danville school district has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Blue Grass Community Foundation to continue its early childhood program — the Cradle School. The grant was made possible by the Hudson-Ellis fund, which focuses its gift giving to Danville and Boyle County.
According to Anna Houston, director of family resources for the district, “The Cradle School program supports goals of strengthening families through six protective factors, which prevent or reduce risks to families and children: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete supports in times of need, social and emotional competence of children, and attachment/bonding.”
Houston added that in last year’s program, 18 families and 22 children received service from the Cradle School.
The Danville Schools Education Foundation will be the charitable vehicle to administer the grant.
The Danville Schools Education Foundation’s mission is to support the students of Danville Schools as they progress through elementary, middle and high school by supporting students with scholarships to graduating seniors, tutoring for at risk children, and assisting in funding programs that will make sure that all Danville students have the best education possible.
