Dear Editor,
I am writing to ask for your vote for Paul Smiley for the Board of Education of the Danville Independent Schools. I taught for the Danville Schools for 29 years and feel that Paul Smiley and I share the pride in the Danville Schools and want to maintain the long history of excellence in teaching and learning for all students in Danville.
Paul and Pat Smiley know first-hand of the quality education available in the Danville Schools. Their three sons all graduated from Danville High School and have gone on to become professional educators themselves.
Why should you vote for Paul Smiley for the Danville Board of Education? He has lived in Danville for 39 years and during that time has had many levels and many years of experiences that have prepared him for this job. He has, at various times, been a teacher, an administrator, a coach and a bus driver. He has won many awards and recognitions for outstanding work in each of these school jobs. He has also previously served as a member of the Danville Board of Education, as an elected member of the Danville City Commission and as president of the Retired Teachers Association for retired teachers from the Boyle County, Danville and Kentucky School for the Deaf schools. His experience as a parent of three past Danville students is
also important in preparation for this job.
I know him to be a good listener and a critical thinker. His training and experiences useful for this job would be difficult to match anywhere. He wants to do the job and has the time to do the job.
Please take advantage of this opportunity for Danville: Vote for Paul Smiley on Nov. 6.
