The Boyle County Public Library is offering The Science in Play 2Go exhibit, currently on display in the Children’s Library. Weekly programs include Adult Storytime at 9 a.m. Mondays, Coding Classes at 4 p.m. Mondays, Adult Education Classes at 5 p.m. Mondays, Crafters Who Care at 6 p.m. Mondays, and storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

In addition to these weekly events, the following library-sponsored programs are scheduled for this week:

• Chess Club: 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. All ages and skill levels are welcome to come play (or learn how to play) the game of chess. This event will be held in the Community Room.

• KidStir: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. A  cooking class for kids where this month’s participants will be making spooky graham cracker houses. Registration is required. Class size is limited to 15. For ages 5-8.

• Costume Makeup Tutorial: 4 p.m. Monday. Learn easy-to-master makeup tips and tricks to complete your Halloween costume.  For ages 9-18.

• Wizarding Games Day: 4 p.m. Tuesday. A game day featuring an afternoon of wizard-themed card and board games, and snacks. Come dressed as your favorite character from the beloved “Harry Potter” book series. For ages 13-18.

• SIP2GO After-Hours: Deaf Community: 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday. An after-hours event for the deaf community Kentucky School for the Deaf students, friends and family are invited to come play in the Science in Play 2Go exhibit after regular hours. Exhibit activities include giant Light Bright; Ball Fall; Build Your Own Rollercoaster; Build Your World giant foam blocks; the Shapes and Stuff Store; and the Science Depot, which features a new theme every few weeks.

• Third Thursday Book Discussion Groups: 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday. The morning group will discuss “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community” by Martin Luther King Jr. The afternoon group will discuss “Some Luck” by Jane Smiley. Those interested in participating in either group may pick up a copy of the book at the circulation desk.

• ASL Conversation Group: 6 p.m. Thursday. An American Sign Language group is a community-led, where people can practice using it. All levels of ASL learners or users are encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Caleb Conover at the library.

• Friends of the Library — Stuart Sanders: 7 p.m. Thursday. The Friends of the Library continue their 2018 Fall Program Series with Lincoln’s Confederate Little Sister. Kentucky historian Stuart Sanders will tell the story of Emilie Todd Helm, the half-sister to Mary Todd Lincoln, and widow of Confederate general Benjamin Hardin Helm.

This program will be held in the Community Room. All are welcome to attend. Friends of the Library events are free and open to the public. An interpreter for the deaf is available upon request by contacting the library 48-hours in advance.

• Memories Worth Remembering Writing Workshop (Part 1): 2 p.m. Oct. 20. Paul Stansbury will lead this three-part workshop where writers can learn how to write a short recollection (500-2000 words) about a life experience. Participants will write one or more recollections, with the opportunity for the collection of work from all participants in the workshop to be published. Additional workshop dates include Oct. 27 and Nov. 3.  A follow-up reading will occur at the Library once the final work has been published.
