Free health screenings Oct. 17

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free health screening at Perryville Baptist Church on Oct. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Health screenings that will be offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, stroke-risk scorecard and flu shots. After the screenings are complete, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their results with a licensed health professional.

Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. This gives the participant detailed information including their HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose. Medications except for diabetic medications may be taken with water.

Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 332-8721. The screenings are open to the public for anyone 18 years and older.

Agenda includes: Treasurer’s report; old business concerning future of Ad-Hoc Committee and All Star Uniforms; report concerning basketball sign-ups and men and women’s tennis league; new business of weekend field, fitness center monthly membership price and Kentucky Arts Festival.

Danville-Boyle County Airport Board — 6 p.m. Thursday Oct. 18, at the airport to discuss general business.

Chamber event, unveiling of city mural to be Thursday

Elmwood Inn Fine Teas will be hosting the Boyle County Business After Hours event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18. At 5 p.m. the new Sister Cities mural, which is being installed on the side of the building, will also be unveiled. Elmwood Inn Fine Teas is located at 135 North Second St.

Senior living workshop planned

An educational workshop about preparing for senior living titled, “Knowing when to make the move,” will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Morning Pointe of Danville. Guest speaker will be Mack Kersey, financial advisor with Edward Jones. Morning Pointe is located at 1375 Perryville Road, Danville.

Hobblin’Goblin 5K coming up

The Hobblin’ Goblin 5K Run/Walk will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Millennium Park. This 5K is for the benefit of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Registration is $20 through Oct. 27.
