Local residents inducted in Phi Kappa Phi

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Kaci Christopher of Harrodsburg and David Williams of Danville were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at the University of Kentucky.

These residents are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Hayes on dean’s list at Emmanuel College

Natalie Hayes of Danville has been named to the dean’s list at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia, for the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn a quality point average of 3.60 or higher during a given semester and be enrolled full-time. Earning dean’s list status is a high scholastic honor for students at Emmanuel College and is evidence of much hard work and motivation for learning.
