Family Services releases quarterly report

Family Services Association of Boyle County recently released its quarterly report to the public, from July-September. The association reports that direct financial assistance was given to 283 total individuals served, 102 children 17 and under, and 66 total seniors 55 and over. Referrals to other agencies include 58 total individuals served, 23 children 17 and under served, and eight seniors 55 and older served.

Danville tree-trimming

Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., the City of Danville will be performing tree trimming on Main Street between Second and Fourth streets.  The trimming will also take place Thursday, Nov. 10, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  If you have any questions, please call the City Engineer’s Office at 238-1200.

Danville-Boyle County Airport Board — 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the airport. The agenda includes general business.

Junction City Council — 7 p.m. Thursday Nov. 10. The agenda includes the second reading and passage of Annexation Ordinance No. 2016-7.

St. Asaph Danville Daughters of the American Revolution — 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Danville Country Club, guest speaker Karen Thomas, a genealogist for 44 years and a lineage researcher at the John Fox Library at Duncan Tavern in Paris, Kentucky. Her talk will be about surprises  we discover when we do the genealogy of our own families.

Concert to benefit Sunrise Children’s Services

There will be a free concert featuring Jim Sheldon, known as “The Positive Cowboy”  at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at First Baptist Church of Danville, located at 1570 North Danville Bypass. Other singers to perform are The Blackwood Brothers and Tim Lovelace. This free concert will benefit Sunrise Children’s Services and a love offering will be taken.

Free flu-shot clinic today

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring a free flu shot clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Nov. 10, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Danville. Walk-ins are welcome and flu shots are available for anyone 18 years of age and older.

Tax school offered

Patriot Tax Service is offering a tax school where participants will learn how to prepare taxes in five weeks. Class starts Monday, Dec. 5. The class is offered tuition-free, but there is a charge for the required books. Possible job openings upon completion of the course. Call (859) 583-0798 for more information.
