Kentucky’s primary elections will be Tuesday, May 21. It’s a closed election, meaning only those who were registered as a Democrat or Republican before April 23 are eligible to vote in this primary, Boyle County Clerk Trille Bottom said. Also, three precincts will have a new voting location.

Voters in the E102 Ss. Peter & Paul, E103 Courthouse, and E104 Centre College precincts will now cast their ballots at the National Guard Armory, 482 Stanford Ave. This will be the first time in many years they won’t be voting at the Salvation Army location, she explained. “This is brand new.”

For the second year, e-poll books will be used in every Boyle County precinct for voters to sign the roster, Bottom said. “We’ve had good luck with them. Signing in is more efficient and quicker.”

Voters should bring in a photo ID, “preferably a driver’s license,” because it will be scanned with the e-poll book which brings up all the information needed to sign in, Bottom said.

Other identification cards, such as government-issued photo IDs can also be used to sign in to cast your vote.

A list of voter precinct polling places will be listed in the weekend edition of The Advocate-Messenger, Bottom said.

Voters can also visit the county’s website at www.boyleky.com or call the clerk’s office at (859) 238-1110 between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday and 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday to find out where they are supposed to vote, Bottom said.

As usual, voting will take place between 6 a.m and 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bottom said she hopes there will be a good turnout for this primary election, even though there are no local elections taking place.

The state primary elections include the office of governor, secretary of state, treasurer, and commissioner of agriculture.

“Remember, voting is your right, and every vote counts,” Bottom said.
