The Boyle County Public Library held its summer reading kickoff party on Monday. The program’s theme this year is “A Universe of Stories,” so a stormtrooper character from the Star Wars movies was on-hand to meet the students, and cardboard cutouts of a Star Wars X-wing and several characters were set up for kids to have their photos taken with.
The bookmobile was open for people to visit, and there were free hot dogs, drinks and popsicles for those who signed up to read this summer. In addition to entertainment like blowing giant bubbles, having their face painted and jumping in a bouncy house, all participants received a large book bag filled with a summer reading log, fine forgiveness vouchers and other reading supplies.
