Edith Townsend

Edith was born on Nov. 30, 1951, in Boyle County to the late Edgar Lee and Louise Hogue Smock. She was a loving and devoted mother of Katie Townsend Swartz (Dan) of Columbus, Ohio and Daniel Townsend (Jessica) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and loving grandmother of Lydia Townsend. She is also survived by a brother, Edgar Smock (Sue) of Danville; two sisters, Becky Smock Townsend (Mike) of Lawrenceburg and Donna Farris (Ron) of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her sister, Robin Smock Short; maternal grandparents, James and Mary Katherine Draudt Hogue; and paternal grandparents, Edgar and Mary Mullinex Smock.

In addition, she was very grateful and thankful for her caring neighbors, the Boyds, the Edwards, and the Belchers, who looked out for her and helped take care of her if she needed anything. She had many friends she loved and cherished. She hopes to see all her family and friends in heaven some day.

Edith loved being outside and was especially proud of her flowers. She loved to read and visit with family and was a proud member of Alum Springs First Church of God in Alum Springs.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Lear officiating. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.
