To see Kenny Davin Fine rocking out on stage, one might never imagine that Kenny — the musician and singer — is also Dr. Kenneth Fine, M.D. Doctor Fine just happens to be the man who pioneered gluten allergies research. Dr. Fine’s ongoing, groundbreaking research led to the wave of gluten-free
foods, ingredients, even restaurants sweeping the nation — in fact, the world.
On Sunday, June 23 we were lucky to have a visit, lecture and mini-concert performed by Dr. Fine and local violinist, Jolene Davis at the Forkland Center. Following a most detailed and interesting lecture on foods, nutrition, gluten allergies and intestinal health, a musical concert got underway.
Once adjourned to the gymnasium, Dr. Fine switched to his singer-songwriter side and treated the audience to over an hour of non-stop musical entertainment. Accompanied by Miss Davis, Kenny performed selections from his numerous CDs (Kenny sings, plays harmonica and guitar).
Dr. Fine’s goal is to spread positive messages to everyone, at all levels including spiritual, aca-demic, health, nutrition and great music.
In her musical career and prior to retiring here in Kentucky, Jolene Davis has performed with music greats such as Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Red Skelton, Patti Page and the unforgettable Liberace. In more recent years versatile Jolene has also served as a director for Springfield Opera house and songwriter-musician for Allegro Dance Project in Lexington.
While Forkland Center attendance was somewhat limited due to inclement weather, a good time was had by all. Even children were enjoying old-fashioned hoola-hoops and games of giant checkers, provided by visiting Florida deejay and sound man, Eddie Jamz.
