Danville Christian Academy opened its new Warrior Complex gymnasium on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The inaugural event was a volleyball match against district opponent Garrard County.

Unfortunately for the Lady Warriors, the Lady Lions spoiled the affair by claiming a hard fought road victory 3-2 (25-13, 25-18, 22-25, 17-25, 15-9). 

It looked like the Lady Warriors would open their gym in style as they came aggressive, claiming the first two sets 25-13 and 25-18. However, Garrard battled back and took the next three — 25-22, 25-17 and 15-9. 

Regardless of the outcome, DCA’s moment would not be spoiled, however. 

“The event was more than a game.  This marks a milestone in the history of DCA,” the school said in a news release. “DCA began in 1996 in the basement of Calvary Baptist Church and opened its own facility on Shakertown Road in February 2009”

DCA is on the road Thursday at Model before returning to the Warrior Complex for its final four matches.
