1943-2016
Cecil Pierce Terhune, Jr., 73, formerly of Danville, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. Born June 29, 1943 in Danville, he was the son of the late Cecil and Flossie Crow Terhune.
He graduated from Danville High School and Western Kentucky University and served in the Army Reserve for six years. Cecil was an avid golfer and a member of Killearn Country Club, Tallahassee, Fla. and the Danville Country Club. He formerly owned Sports Cars Inc., in Lexington and Time Plus Inc. in Tallahassee.
Cecil was a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church and volunteered for the Rolex Three Day Event in Lexington for many years and was a starter/timer for the Red Hill Horse Trials for over 10 years in Tallahassee.
He was predeceased by his brother, Truman C. Terhune, and a sister, Ina Jane Tamme.
He is survived by three children, Kristi (Joey) Ashby of Louisville, Wendy (Chad) Rediker of Louisville and Walker G. Terhune of Lexington; five grandchildren, Wilson Joseph Ashby, Patrick Clay Ashby, Samantha Paige Ashby, Madeline Austin Rediker and Alexander Christopher Rediker; his former wife, Joan H. Terhune; a sister-in-law, Mary Frances Vest; and several cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Stith Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Noel will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the Eddie, Steve and Theo Tamme, Wil Ashby, Clay Ashby, Alex Rediker, Brad Terhune and Mike Pittman. Honorary will be Timmy Lennox, Bruce Jones, David Randolph, Ernie Coulter and Rolan Coulter.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Jacob Tamme – Swings For Soldiers Fund through the Homes for Our Troops.
