1932-2020
Norma Jean Young Caldwell, 87, died January 31, 2020 in Danville. Born October 27, 1932 in Danville to the late Amos Shelton and Louise Phillips Young. Norma was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School and a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She was the widow of Samuel T. Caldwell. Norma loved the beach, especially Holden Beach. She always listened to the Statler Brothers and loved being with her family. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald R. Young and a great-granddaughter, Natalie Grace Caldwell.
Norma is survived by her two sons, Sammy G. (Joan) Caldwell and David B. Caldwell, two grandchildren, Stephanie Shawn Caldwell (Rob) Cloyd and Ben (Kasey) Caldwell; three great-grandchildren, Ayden Samuel Cloyd, Delaney Gayle Cloyd and Avery Li Caldwell and two sisters, Anna Layton and Patsy Sharp.
The funeral service will be 2 pm, Monday, February 3, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Tommy Valentine will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers are Danny Lay, Eddie Layton, Ben Caldwell, Larry Caldwell, Chad Worthington and Vincent Vanover. Visitation will be 2 pm – 5 pm, Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville.
