Officials at the Boyle County High School, along with the school resource officer, are investigating after weapons were found in a student’s vehicle parked in the student parking lot on Tuesday.
The student was in class and was not armed, according to a statement released by the district.
“It is important to note that we have no reason to believe that our students were in danger at any time,” the release states. “Moving forward, the school and district administration is working and will continue to work closely with local authorities.”
A heightened security presence will be at every school in the district today. The presence will continue “until enough information has been gathered to ensure that no threat exists.”
“We will continue to keep student safety as our number one priority,” the release reads.
