Eloise Ammerman Letton

Eloise Ammerman Letton, 93, of Danville, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017. She was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Bourbon County, Kentucky to James Lester and Lucille Moore Ammerman.
She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and taught home economics at North Middletown High School following graduation. Eloise married Thomas Bedford Letton Jr. in 1945, and they lived briefly in Florence, South Carolina as Tommy completed his duty with the U.S. Army Air Corp. In 1953, they moved to Danville where Mr. Letton owned and operated the Bun Boy restaurant and later the Boyle Block Company.
Eloise was a homemaker and known for her hospitality and cooking. She was an active member of the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School class for over 60 years and a board member of the Boyle County Senior Citizens Center.
She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed line dancing and square dancing. She greatly loved spending time with family.
Eloise was predeceased by her husband, Tommy Letton, and her oldest grandson, Jeremy Thomas Letton, who shared her birthdate.
Other family members include a son, Thomas Lester (Lynn) Letton, and a daughter, Karen (Jeff) Thornton, both of Danville; her grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney) Letton of Cincinnati, Ohio, Blake Letton and Ashley Thornton of Danville, and Alyssa Thornton of Lexington; and her great-grandchildren, Tanner, Eloise, and Oliver Letton and Wendell Jeremy Thornton; and a sister, Ruth Ammerman Harney of Paris, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 5 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy Valentine will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the service at noon. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
