In honor of National Mutts Day on July 31, we’re featuring two mixed breed pups as our Pets of the Week. Say hello to Harley and Nash!

Harley is a laid-back gal between 1 and 2 years old. Even though she’s young, she has a calm, mature temperament and walks well on a leash.

Harley enjoys chilling in the yard, catching some rays, and getting petted behind the ears; she’s a low-maintenance doggo for sure. Behind her deep and soulful eyes, there’s a hint of sadness. Her gentle and loving spirit will make her a special addition to any home. Are you the one to bring Harley out of her serious shell and show her how wonderful life can be?

Nash is 5 months old and 15 pounds of exuberance! This little guy loves everyone he meets and is into new experiences; he’s fearless and ready to explore life beyond the shelter.

Nash will greet you with full-body wiggles before rolling over for belly rubs. He likes to play with toys and also really digs snuggling and giving kisses. Since he’s a puppy, his new family will need to provide him with outlets for his energy and help him learn appropriate boundaries. In return, he’ll be the best buddy you can imagine.

Both dogs are fixed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to go home! Like Nash and Harley, most dogs in shelters are a unique combination of two or more breed types, affectionately known as mutts. Even though some dogs may look like a particular breed, visual identification is usually inaccurate.

Maddie’s® Shelter Medicine Program at the University of Florida surveyed 5,000+ veterinarians, breeders, trainers, shelter staff, and other professionals who identified dog breeds from photographs.
