Billy Gene Staten, 81, of Craintown Road, Gravel Switch, KY passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at his home. A native of Boyle County, he was born on January 11, 1940, to the late John Arthur and Elsie Harmon Staten. He was a member of the New Beginnings Community Church, a retired employee of the Red Wing Shoe Factory, and a 1957 graduate of Perryville High School. Preceding him in death was his son, Arthur Lee Staten on April 3, 2021, and two brothers, Frank and Elbert Staten. Survivors include his wife, Ina Goode Staten; three daughters, Sandy Hartman of Springfield, Annette Russell and Jeannette King (Junior) of Gravel Switch; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Helen Wentworth of Jacksonville, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29th at the New Beginnings Community Church with Rev. Stacy Wilson, officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Kenny Carpenter. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Lanham, Brandon Coulter, Derek Padgett, Donnie Staton, Ricky Wentworth, and Edward Godbey. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Tuesday and after 8:30 Wednesday morning at the New Beginnings Community Church, 8876 Perryville Road, Springfield. Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
