1946-2017

Barbara “Baba” Sheene Lockhart, 70, of Danville, passed away at her home on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lockhart. Barbara was born in Boyle County on May 5, 1946 to the late Edward and Mable Baughman Sheene.

Barbara was an accomplished artist most generous with her time and talents. She loved the Danville/Boyle County community and was a huge supporter of numerous charitable organizations; including, but not limited to, the Community Arts Center, United Way, Danville/Boyle County Scholarship Fund, Wilderness Trace Child Development Center, and Heritage Hospice.

She was an avid gardener, world traveler, loyal friend, loving mother, and devoted grandmother.

Surviving is a son, Brian Lockhart (Heather) of Danville; two daughters, Susan Taylor (Chris) of Danville and Robin Lockhart of Danville; three brothers, Tommy Sheene, Benny Sheene (Carolyn), and Johnny Sheene (Dorothy), all of Danville; and six grandchildren, Nathan Cunningham, Mason Lockhart, Alex Lockhart, Emma Taylor, Andrew Lockhart, and Sarah Kate Taylor. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 at First Christian Church with Rev. Leland Lockhart, Dr. Mickey Anders, and Rev. Fr. Eliot Handziak officiating. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at First Christian Church.

Pallbearers will be Brian Lockhart, Chris Taylor, Dr. Eric Guerrant, Malone Anderson, Nathan Cunningham, and Mason Lockhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Sheene, Benny Sheene, Johnny Sheene, Bill Barker, and Dr. Richard Hempell.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Community Arts Center in Danville, Kentucky and Wilderness Trace Child Development Center in Danville.
