Leigh Compton is new Danville finance director

The city of Danville has hired a new Finance Director, Leigh Compton.
Compton has worked in audit roles for Forcht Bank, NA in Lexington, The Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
A native of the Danville area and a graduate of the Boyle County school system, Compton wanted to come back to her home community. She has degrees in accounting and psychology from Eastern Kentucky University.
“As someone who grew up in and around the city of Danville, I look forward to serving its citizens and ensuring the city meets its fiduciary responsibilities to those citizens,” Compton said.
The Finance Department handles financial functions of the city, including accounts payable, cash flow, custody of funds, debt administration, and general accounting activities. The finance director oversees five full-time staff in the department.
According to the official job description, Compton has overall responsibility for the accounting and financial control for the Finance Department. She will ensure the departmental reports and other financial assets are in great standing, and give advice for investment decisions.
Compton will make strategies to assess, manage, and minimize financial risk. She will build reports and analysis for department heads to review and provide feedback.
