Library offers free activities for all ages

The Boyle County Public Library offers free activities, special events, and online resources for the community. Programs include crafting, interactive games, STEM activities, and weekly storytimes. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming events at the library:

Teen D&D

On Saturday, November 12 from 2:00-4:00 PM teens can play what some call the greatest role-playing game of all time. Players will venture through campaigns that will test their ability to work together and conquer foes in this tabletop adventure. Registration is required to play. Adult D&D

The library offers a Dungeons & Dragons club for adults that meets at the library on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Adults can join a session on Sunday, November 13 at noon or 4:30 PM. No experience is necessary, but registration is required. To register, sign up at the library or email library@boylepublib.org. (Ages 18+)

Morning Storytime & Afternoon Storytime

Join us for storytime at the library! Each week we will read stories and have a themed sensory activity for young children to enjoy. New for November, the library will also offer an afternoon storytime that will feature the same theme and activity as the morning storytime sessions. Storytime will be held Monday and Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM and Thursday afternoons at 12:30 PM in the youth department. Toddlers and preschoolers are all welcome to attend with their caregivers. (Ages 2-5)

Crafternoon

On Tuesday afternoons at 3:15 PM, kids and tweens can explore their creative side at the library. All skills levels and imaginations are welcome to participate in new craft activities each week. The goal is to have fun creating something uniquely yours! This event will be held in the youth department.  (Ages 5-12)

Crafting for Keeps

At this program series you will be guided through the process of making a craft that you get to keep. On Tuesday, November 15 at 6:00 PM we will be making DIY Holiday Cards. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Kids Makerspace Engineering

On Wednesday afternoons at 3:15 PM, kids are invited to put their engineering skills to the test. There will be time for free build, followed by weekly challenges to earn a sweet reward. We’ll be using LEGOs, Keva planks, K’nex, and marble runs.  This event will be held in the youth department. Note: there will be no session the week of Thanksgiving. (Ages 5-8)

Third Thursday Book Club

In November the book club will be reading The Dutch House by Ann Pratchett. Join the book discussion on Thursday, November 17 at 10:30 AM in the Community Room. (Ages 18+)

Tween Makerspace Engineering

Tweens are invited to put their engineering skills to the test on Thursday afternoons at 3:15 PM. There will be time for free build, followed by weekly challenges to earn a sweet reward. Game On

Teens are invited to play Nintendo Switch and board games at the library on Friday afternoons from 3:30-5:30 PM on the 5 th Level. Note: there will be no session the week of Thanksgiving. (Ages 13-18)

Chess Mix

On Saturday, November 19 from 2:00-4:00 PM, visit the library and enjoy an afternoon of chess and a savory snack. This program is for all skill levels. This event will be held in the Reading Room. (All ages)
