Library hosts free activities; Tax help available

The Boyle County Public Library offers free activities, special events, and online resources for the community. Programs include crafting, interactive games, STEM activities, and weekly storytimes. In addition, free tax preparation services will be offered starting in February. Here is a closer look at some of the upcoming events at the library:
Teen D&D
On Saturday, January 28 from 2:00-4:00 PM teens can play what some call the greatest role-playing game of all time. Players will venture through campaigns that will test their ability to work together and conquer foes in this tabletop adventure. Registration is required to play. Go to www.boylepublib.org/teendnd to register. (Ages 13-18)
Morning Storytime & Afternoon Storytime
Join us for storytime at the library! Each week we will read stories and have a themed sensory activity for young children to enjoy. This week only Morning Storytime will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Afternoon Storytime will be held on Thursdays at 12:30 PM in the youth department. Beginning on February 1, Storytime will shift to being offered on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
Toddlers and preschoolers are all welcome to attend with their caregivers. (Ages 2-5)
Crafternoon
On Tuesday, January 31 at 3:15 PM, kids and tweens can explore their creative side at the library. All skills levels and imaginations are welcome to participate in new craft activities each week. The goal is to have fun creating something uniquely yours! This event will be held in the youth department. (Ages 5-12)
Homework Hangout
On Tuesday, January 31 from 3:30-5:30 PM, middle schoolers are invited to come to the library to hang out, work on homework, read, relax, snack, and breathe. January can be harsh, but this hangout time is not. This come-and-go event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 11-14)
Game On
Teens are invited to play Nintendo Switch and board games at the library on Fridays from 3:30-5:30 PM. This event will be held on the 5 th Level of the library. (Ages 13-18)
Free Tax Prep
The Boyle County Public Library has once again partnered with the AARP Foundation and the United Way of the Bluegrass to host free tax preparation service. Beginning on Saturday, February 4, tax professionals will be set up in the library each week on Tuesdays and Saturdays to assist people with the tax filing process through mid-April. This service is made possible through Tax-Aide and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs.
These tax preparation services are available by appointment only.
• AARP Foundation Tax-Aide tax assistance services will be available on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM beginning February 7. Although anyone can make an appointment, the program is especially focused on low-to-moderate income taxpayers who are age 50 and older. • United Way of the Bluegrass VITA Tax Preparation Assistance will be available by appointment on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM beginning February 4, for people with eligible household incomes.
