DCA track teams make solid regional debut

The Danville Christian track and field teams made a splash in their first regional competition Sunday, finishing in the top half of the boys and girls standings in the Region 1A-5 championships in Maysville.
The DCA boys finished fourth out of 15 teams and the girls were seventh of 14 teams in the meet at Mason County.
DCA athletes won two regional championships and earned automatic state qualifying berths in two other events, and they scored in 12 boys events and eight girls events.
Emmanuel Dut won the boys 400-meter run, and he was part of a DCA win in the boys 1,600-meter relay. Braxtyn Heck finished second in the girls shot put and discus to earn a state meet spot in both events.
Two Burgin girls won individual events: Raegan Taylor in the 100 hurdles and Kate Hatfield in the high jump.
Thomas Swing won the boys 110 hurdles for Danville.
