The Second City, the world’s most influential name in comedy and improvisation, is bringing its latest revue Comedian Rhapsody to Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts for a special summer performance on June 25.
The Second City has become the world’s premier improv and sketch comedy institution since opening as a comedy cabaret in 1959. Boasting alumni like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carrell, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Keegan-Michael Key, Jason Sudeikis and more, the company has an unmatched track record of launching the careers of comedy superstars.
“We are thrilled to welcome The Second City back to Danville,” said Norton Center Executive Director Steve Hoffman. “Their unique brand of comedy is fast-paced, witty and unparalleled, and we can’t wait for our audience to experience the laughter and joy Comedian Rhapsody promises to deliver. Many of us grew up with Saturday Night Live, a television show that featured and continues to feature so many Second City alumni.”
Comedian Rhapsody is a groundbreaking showcase of classic sketch comedy and songs from the company’s rich history, along with fresh new favorites and the signature improv The Second City is famous for.
Come see the company the New York Times calls “legendary,” and experience a night of hilarious comedy from the next generation of comedian superstars.
