Pet of the week: Olaf, a pet you’ve met before

This week we’re featuring a pet you’ve met before: Olaf, a 1-year-old Pharoah hound-shepherd mix with enormous ears and a giant smile. Our partners at Boyle County Animal Control removed Olaf from an unfortunate situation last November, and he’s been looking for the right home ever since.
Last week DBCHS matched 17 dogs with their forever families; could this be the week we find that one particular person for this one specific dog?
“Hi, I’m Olaf, and I’m back in training with my buddy Logan at Greene Outdoor LLC. Logan says I’m a good boy; I just have some special requests. For one thing, city life isn’t for me. I’ve got lots of energy, and I need room to run and be free! Do you have a large fenced yard that I can romp around and explore?
“My perfect life would be with someone who is just as active as me. You’ll love taking me on long walks; I’m awesome on a leash and know to look to my human for direction. I haven’t been hiking or swimming yet, but I bet I’d be great at it!
“Once I’ve exhausted my energy, I enjoy getting belly rubs, giving kisses, and snuggling. My charms are hard to resist, and I develop a strong bond with my person. I’d like a home without children, and I prefer to be an only dog. Make me the center of your world, and I will repay you with years of devotion and companionship!
“If you’re an experienced dog owner who will appreciate my quirks and give me the structure I need to thrive, then you might be just who I am looking for!”
Olaf is up-to-date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and trained. Check out some videos of him on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DBCHS to see how well-behaved he is. Email us at dbchs@bellsouth.net for more information and to set up a time to meet him. Let’s make this the last week that sweet Olaf spends without his very own human to love.
Did you know? The Joanie Bernard Foundation has renewed its Bluegrass Cat Project for 2021 in 13 central Kentucky counties, including Boyle. Through the Bluegrass Area Development District, this project will assist in the spay/neuter of approximately 3,000 cats in the region.
If you are feeding outdoor cats that need to be spayed or neutered in Boyle County, call us at 859-238-1117 to schedule FREE surgery. Remember, if you see a healthy, outdoor ear-tipped cat, they’ve already been fixed!
The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society was established in 1972 to promote companion animals’ humane treatment through sheltering, adoptions, community education, and spay and neuter programs. DBCHS is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dependent on monetary gifts from generous individuals and businesses in our community.
To donate, please visit DBCHS.org/give or mail a check to DBCHS P.O. Box 487, Danville, KY 40423-0487. Your monetary gift will make a difference in a pet’s life, and we appreciate every contribution. Thank you for your support!
