The Kentucky League of Cities recently recognized four Danville city officials for their achievements in city governance. KLC presented City Commission member Denise Terry with a Level III Master of City Governance award. City Commission member Kevin Caudill received a Level II Excellence in City Governance award. In addition, KLC presented City Clerk Ashley Raider and City Commission member Jennie Hollon with Level I Achievement in City Governance awards.

KLC administers the City Officials Training Center, a voluntary education program. City officials can complete education levels by attending KLC events and submitting outside educational credit from other municipal training.

Danville Mayor and KLC Executive Board member Mike Perros said the training offered by KLC is a valuable asset to the city and its residents.

“Receiving this training from KLC helps us improve the service we can provide to the people of Danville,” Perros said. “It helps our staff and council members be better prepared to provide the level of service our citizens deserve and expect.”

“The City Officials Training Center program provides an avenue for our local leaders to become more informed, which helps cities function effectively and enhances the quality of life within our communities,” said KLC Executive Director|CEO James D. Chaney. “We are proud to offer this service to our members and welcome the hundreds of city officials who take part in our various training events every year.”

The Level I Achievement in City Governance award requires a city official to attend a minimum of 30 hours of approved training with one hour of ethics training.

The Level II Excellence in City Governance award requires a city official to attend a minimum of 60 hours of approved training with two hours of ethics training.

The Level III Master of City Governance award requires a city official to attend a minimum of 90 hours of approved training with three hours of ethics training.
